IN THE WIND is the first unit of the new sail catamaran Sunreef 58, custom-built for a US-based customer. The yacht is the successor of the popular Sunreef 62 model that has been sold in 35 units. Sunreef Yachts currently has three new contracts for this model in its order book.
IN THE WIND was built with the vacuum infusion technology and light-weight composite materials used for example in aviation and aeronautics industry. The hull and superstructure were designed with focus on stylish, streamlined profile. The sea hulls use natural wave power for achieving fast speed. With the mast located on the sun deck, the superstructure (living-room) is very spacious and ensures panoramic view of the sea. By night, halogen LEDs and underwater lights illuminate the mast and the hulls. In the sun deck, there is also the main helm as well as a dining room with comfortable sitting areas and sunbathing mattresses. It is surely the most pleasant place on the yacht for observation of the sea and having delicious meals with family or friends. Soft light of candles will not disturb in watching stars in the night sky. This is also from where the captain performs sail maneuvers.
The living space includes an exclusive owner’s suite, 3 guest cabins and 2 crew cabins in the hulls. The owner’s cabin is located in the right hull and is furnished with a king-size bed, desk, private bathroom, special storage for a keyboard, TV and DVD equipment. There is also plenty of space for storage of personal belongings and luggage. The third guest cabin is equipped with bunk-beds – a perfect solution for kids. Six wide portlights integrated in hulls allow plenty of sun light into the guest cabins. The main deck houses a kitchen with complete equipment, living/dining-room and lower helm with navigation, communication and automatic pilot equipment. The 40-inch LCD TV, DVD and Dolby Surround sound system in the living-room are connected also to speakers in the cockpit and on the sun deck. The total living space of the interior is 62 m2 (667 sq ft). The living-room is accessible directly from the cockpit equipped with comfortable sofas, sunbathing mattresses, dining table, armchairs and storage compartments for water toys. The fact that the cockpit and the living-room are located on the same level and connected with sliding doors enhances the impression of space.
The interior was custom-built in Japanese style for the owner who liked the style of SEAZEN II launched in 2008. Exotic and genuine Wenge wood is combined with cream wall and ceiling upholstery and red Alcantara on sofas. Furniture door imitate sliding Shoji blinds and the checker floor pattern is inspired by Japan TATAMI mats.
IN THE WIND is available for charter cruises on the Mediterranean Sea in Summer 2012 an in the Caribbean and Bahamas in winter/spring 2012/13 through the central Sunreef Yachts Charter agency (www.sunreef-charter.com). With the low draft, the guest will be able to explore hidden bights and beaches unavailable for heavy and deep-draft single-hull vessels.
